Hi Ann…A friend of mine posted your recent article about C-sections on her Facebook page. I wanted to comment on it under he article but I kept getting errors trying to log in. I loved your article and I wish more and more women realized what is happening in hospitals about child birth. I went thru hell when I gave birth 6 years ago in NY. The doctor tried to FORCE a C-section on me and for NO legit reason only to make more money. I posted my story on under a documentary I watched “The Business of Being Born”. Our horrible experience at the hospital was the reason why I changed my mind about having a 2nd child now. Sad, but true. This is my story below. Hope you get to read it:

  2. Dear Evelyn,

Thank you so much for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you were unable to comment on the story. Sometimes, if you aren’t linked thru Facebook or Google it doesn’t allow posts. Nonetheless, thanks for getting in contact. I am glad that you found the article useful.

I had the opportunity to read your story. It’s important that you share this with others. It is so personal yet relatable. So many moms learn that they are not alone in what they feel and that they’re not wrong for what they feel. I also feel that having this public conversation is an important means of bringing this issue into the spotlight. If enough women speak up for what they want, the tide will eventually change.

I read that you said your birth experience was the reason you have chosen not to have more children. I know you’re not alone in deciding this. The decision to bring a child into this world is profoundly personal and a decision only a parent can make but know that there are providers who will support your birth plan. If you decide ever to explore this option, you can contact or your local ICAN chapter. In NJ, the Midwives of NJ are excellent. I know some of their patients have driven 1-2 hours to see them.

Thanks again for sharing your story and know that words are powerful and do change things. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.
